Zapotec and Zoque residents of Oaxacan town Niltepec process the mesmerizing blue pigment known as añil or indigo from the jiquilite plant (Indigofera suffruticosa). Despite the challenges of climate change and lack of government support, residents of all ages are returning to this ancient practice, in what we hope turns out to be The New Indigo Wave.
