The artificial stream system is a large, technically sophisticated test plant where biologists carry out experiments with pollutants that influence flora and fauna. This enormous simulation of nature includes a huge technical apparatus in a great hall with big tubes, channels, cables and other interesting machines. My film shows the scientists and technical assistants during their work process in this gigantic scenery. The camera focuses on their 'handling' different devices during their experiments. As no talking heads are shown and the people are only talking offstage, the viewer has the impression that they are talking to themselves. This inner dialog allows us to gain insight into their ritualized and repetitive work processes and to understand how intuition might also be a leading force in science.
