Impromptu is an experimental 'lockdown' documentary in which the filmmaker takes seriously the 'bold thesis' that film can do philosophy. In particular, it is sympathetic to philosopher Robert Sinnerbrink's position that film can embody and provoke a distinctively cinematic mode of philosophical reflection that resists verbal paraphase or translation. Impromptu forms a part of an omnibus collection titled CoVisions, curated by filmmakers Herve Cohen and Marcia Jarmel.
