At a market, puppies trapped in a cloth bag whimper and struggle to free themselves. One of them manages to tear the canvas and pokes its head out. With this very brief documentary gesture, Jia Zhang-Ke connects the merchants and the animals in a single camera movement, allegorically evoking the artist's situation in China, hampered by censorship.
