Exo Zone is a speculative sci-fi documentary investigating radio quiet zones and satellite interference as lenses onto extraction, governance, and anomaly within emerging space infrastructures.
The film traces a trajectory from existing terrestrial radio quiet zones to the possibility of extra-terrestrial ones, mapping a vertical extension of territory that mirrors histories of colonial expansion and extractive logic. It asks how satellite constellations, built with little consideration for radio astronomy, are already limiting our capacity to listen beyond ourselves.
In Exo Zone, interference does not arise from opposing forces but from the lack of relational thinking between systems that share the same space. Noise accumulates where infrastructures are built in isolation, governed out of sync, and imagined without a planetary framework.
The narrative culminates on the far side of the Moon, a potential radio quiet zone that also functions as a philosophical displacement, challenging anthropocentric assumptions and asking what becomes perceptible beyond the exhaust of our own technologies.
Ultimately, Exo Zone asks what kinds of sensing infrastructures we choose to build, how they should be governed, and what must be rendered quiet in order to hear otherwise.
