The concept of "deus ex machina" in ancient Greek theatre refers to a situation where something unexpected and improbable—an event or character—intervenes in the plot to resolve a difficult dilemma. A god descends from the machine to set things right. Today, we rely on technological solutions and digital systems, believing they will save us from ruin. But what if, instead of a god, it was the devil who descended from the machine?

An experimental work about errors in technical systems. Made in the spirit of concretism and avant-garde animation, image sequences shot with handheld camera of the white screens of cheap consumer displays. When the screens’ capacity is exceeded, beautiful little devils begin to appear.

The experimental electronic music composed for the film by Finnish composer Sara Milazzo mirrors the idea of brokenness and errors. As a member of KOELSE (Kokeellisen elektroniikan seura/The Society for Experimental Electronics) she uses electronic junk as sound sources.
