Mati, an 8-year-old girl, accidentally learns of her grandfather's death when she spies on a phone call from her father. Although Hugo doesn't know his daughter has heard the news and denies it, the two grieve together: Mati takes refuge in drawing, and with a new companion who appears in her life; Hugo chooses to remain silent. A new discovery by Mati will bring them closer together.
