Blood film is an experimental documentary exploring image making, process and interpretation within medical and creative practices. The medical definition of a blood film is a sample of blood which is smeared onto a glass microscopic slide and stained to allow the various blood cells to be examined under the microscope. For this piece, conversations were recorded between artist and doctor, discussing insights into the profession as a doctor and using their own blood for the slides to use the microscope within a creative and explorative context.
This was carried out as a collaboration between artist filmmaker Karolina Raczynski and doctor Andrew Ghobrial, funded by Clapham Film Unit as part of the Micro-Commission award scheme.
