This is an episodic video–installation reimagining of Kathy Acker’s novel Blood and Guts in High School, where each chapter presents scenes from the life of Janie interwoven with U.S. news events from 1978–1982. In Chapter 1, we see Janie in a typical adolescent moment, bracketed by historical references that inform her nihilistic, rebellious worldview.
