Binding Off (working title) is an animated documentary about the process of grieving, and how the act of textile crafting (particularly knitting) can be used to help process and ameliorate it. The film will look at the ways in which grieving is processed, using case studies from all different kinds of loss - from dropping a stitch to losing a loved one. This project is in its very early stages of R&D. Previously I made the BAFTA nominated Visible Mending (2023) and this film builds on themes touched on there. Visually this work will push the representation of the subjects discussed, using textiles to dig into the emotional and physical issues raised.
