Overview: Bansuri (Hindi: बांसुरी, Urdu: بانسری; Nepali: बाँसुरी, Marathi: बासरी, Assamese: বাঁহী, Bengali: বাঁশি) is an Indian transverse flute made from a single bamboo with six or seven fingerholes. It is an ancient musical instrument associated with pastoral tradition and is closely linked to the love story of Krishna and Radha. The word "bansuri" comes from the combination of the words bans meaning bamboo and the word sur meaning melody.
