As Grey Falls wanders along the dikes and mudflats of the Fraser River delta, the shared home of millions of birds and some 2 million people in southern British Columbia. It is a place of great beauty, and one that has been grievously damaged and transformed by humans over the past 175 years.  Yet still it is full of wonders. Though every day we drive and walk and bike and run through this landscape, seldom do we give it the attention needed to deeply see and hear this place. In the course of its wanderings, As Grey Falls asks how we might share this place, how we might better know and care about its creatures, and what lessons the land and its nonhuman inhabitants might hold for us. Implicit in its investigations is what we might learn--through experience, reflection, science--about birds, and what, in turn we might learn from them. As to what they learn from us (humans), it is an open question.
