Something Mutual is a visual essay that navigates the landscape of urban flora in Mexico City, giving a voice to the plants that surround us.
The project originated as a photographic documentation of urban flora in Mexico City, created in collaboration with Juliana De Lasse, a landscape architect based in the city. Our intention was to explore and give a voice to the plants we encounter daily in a poetic way.
This led us to also use film to capture these beings sharing spaces with people, aiming to go beyond static photographs and also listen to, observe, and depict the movement of plants in the city.
We seek to unearth the sentiments of the city's nature, start to decipher the narratives of its existence and reveal the web of relationships between flora and humanity.
