The second change in THE HOUSE OF WATER, #60 LIMITATION, presents a concept of limitation. The new bottom trigram is LAKE, a place where water is contained. This hexagram advises: Stay in the center, set limits and articulate to shape those measures and the times, to obtain the most fruitful model of action. The CHINESE BOOK OF CHANGES, aka the I Ching, describes 64 different, yet archetypal forms of life’s conditions. Each basic “judgement” is rendered as a hexagram of 6 lines, givn a numerical title. The hexagram is made up of 2 distinctive trigrams of 3 lines, that are named after elements of nature, that present a particular quality. For example: water’s quality is “danger”, thunder is “shocking”, and mountain is “keeping still”. There are 8 basic trigrams: water, thunder, heaven, earth, lake, mountain, fire, wind or wood. Each element/trigram, has its own house, with 8 changes of hexagrams that transform the initial energy. The first hexagram in any house is a double of the same trigram. THE HOUSE OF WATER, begins with #29 a dangerous chaotic abyss, and finally transforms into #7 COLLECTIVE FORCE, where a discipline control of passion, armed with reason, allows for accomplishments of what is just and correct. This filmmaking begins in intuitive action, from a receptive, pre-language place; research completes the final form.
