Part of the experimental video series The House of Water, Lili White’s short film #55: CITADEL: CANOPY: ABUNDANCE: ZENITH is an interpretive visual meditation on I Ching Hexagram #55. Drawing from the ancient Chinese text, the film delves into themes of cosmic intelligence, ephemerality, and the tipping point between states of abundance and descent. The work integrates improvisational movement rooted in “authentic movement technique” to evoke archetypal energies and psychic thresholds. Using layered visual textures and poetic editing, White invites the viewer to experience a liminal dream space where emotion, time, and gesture converge. The film foregrounds the embodied experience of transformation, echoing mythic and historical resonances—from King Wu’s journey to modern metaphysical inquiry.
