This two-channel video installation examines the San Rafael Valley, an untouched wildlife corridor for endangered species that faces imminent destruction following the current administration’s construction of a 30-foot steel wall.

Within the piece, 16mm film reveals the natural network, its materiality and texture rendered in color through gelatin emulsion. In parallel, point cloud scans of the same place uncover disruptions produced by automated systems that flatten ecological networks into machine-readable environments that increasingly make decisions about land, people’s mobility, and biodiversity.

Both video processes undergo a form of development: one through analog chemistries, and the other through an artificial intelligence model that estimates depth from 2D images.
