Description

The video shows an important activity of the brain, the re-uptake of transmitter molecules (in this case serotonin) after the signal has been passed in the synapse. Serotonin, also called the ‘happyness hormone’, is involved in mood regulation, and its reuptake receptor (5-HTT or SERT) is the target of many antidepressants. Among the best-known drugs, Fluoxetine (whose commercial name is Prozac) is visible, blocking serotonin entry towards the end of the scene.
