Pedro de Filippis is a filmmaker from Belo Horizonte, Brazil. His debut feature Rejeito underlines his ongoing research on post colonialism. The film premiered at Cinéma du Réel and had its North American premiere on Hot Docs in 2023. It has found the support of prominent institutions such as Sundance Institute, Doc Society and LEF Foundation. In 2016 Pedro was selected for the European MFA program Doc Nomads, through which he received tutorship from prominent academics such as Bill Nichols, Marta Andreu and J.P. Sniadecki, and directed films in Portugal, Hungary, and Belgium during the two years of the program. Pedro is also a Logan NonFiction and Points North fellow alumni. In 2021 he was nominated for the Global Emerging Filmmaker prize by Netflix and IDA.
