Kantarama Gahigiri - Director Terra Mater Kantarama Gahigiri is a Rwandan filmmaker (writer/director) and a magician after dusk. She is an alumna of Realness Residency (2018), La Fabrique (Cannes 2019), and Vienna’s MuseumQuartier Residency (2023). As of today, Kantarama pursues her passion immersed in an exploration of identity, sovereignty and on-screen representation with her most recent projects (select.) :

Terra Mater - Mother Land, (10 min) addresses the ties between colonisation, capitalism and climate change, and premiered at Berlinale (2023) in Shorts Competition. 

Mother Earth, (4 min) about eco-responsibility, a Postcard from the Future sent to the Piazza Grande, 75th edition anniversary Locarno Film Festival (2022).

Ethereality, short film about migration and the sense of belonging. Best Short Documentary Award (Poulain d’Or) at FESPACO 2021, screened in competition at Chicago IFF (2020), Namur IFF (2021), Clermont-Ferrand (2020), Kurzfilmtage Winterthur (2019), and features in the curated program Quartiers Lointains Season 6 : Afrofuturistik. It played in more than 80 festivals worldwide, and was released in theatres in France (2021), and three consecutive years in Switzerland (2021-22-23). 

Tapis Rouge, feature film (co-written, co-directed) about immigration and integration in Switzerland, awarded Best Director at Chelsea Film Festival and Best Feature by TV5Monde, followed by a theatrical release in Switzerland and in France (2017).
