James Mansell is a British director, writer and producer.

His work across film, television, music videos and branded content is available to watch on multiple platforms including DUST, CryptTV, Amazon Prime Video, Samsung TV Plus and Film Shortage, has screened globally at film festivals such as Popcorn Frights Film Festival and The British Horror Film Festival and has won numerous awards including a Webby Award and a Discover Film Award.  His tech-horror short film NIGHTMARES starring Victoria Morrison (PLAN Z) screened at over 50 film festivals and won multiple awards including Best Horror Short at the Discover Film Awards and is streaming on CryptTV.  James’ sci-fi horror short film RUPTURED starring Kate Soulsby-Finley (ZOMBIE WOMEN OF SATAN) won three awards at The People’s Film Festival ‘19 including Best Sci-Fi Short Film and is streaming on Gunpowder & Sky’s sci-fi entertainment brand DUST.  He worked with UK metal band Evile on their music videos for HELL UNLEASHED and GORE (ft. Brian Posehn), released through Napalm Records.   James’ work for international brands includes Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, HSBC, Pfizer, Levi’s, Shell and the BBC, in which his contribution to the web series BBC Ideas: Thinkers from the past on our world today helped it to win a People’s Choice Award at the Creativepool Annual 2020 Awards and the Public Service & Activism Award at the Webby Awards in 2019.  Aside from filmmaking, James is a mentor and ambassador for The Creative Mentor Network, has written for websites such as Little Black Book and Raindance, and was on the Jury for The People’s Film Festival in 2022.  Beginning in the camera department, James worked for the likes of Channel 4, MTV, Sky and the BBC as a camera operator and assistant, along with work as an assistant director and location assistant.  He lives with his family amongst the hills in Hertfordshire, UK.
