Holly Márie Parnell is an Irish/Canadian artist filmmaker. Working across moving image and expanded cinema, her practice explores the ways we impart meaning and value through layers of authority and language. Interested in cinema of the real, the work is built from personal encounters and is motivated by the subtle yet powerful truths of embodied knowledge and lived experience. Her work has been shared across the UK and abroad, with recent projects at Jupiter Woods, Humber Gallery, Sirius Arts Centre, Cork Film Festival, Hot Docs and Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival. Her debut single channel film won a Berwick New Cinema Award and is the central film in aemi’s 2023 Irish national and international tour Súitú.
