Born in 1991, Abhinava is formally trained in non-fiction cinema at the Creative Documentary Course. His film 'Jamnapaar' (2017) has shown at Documenta Madrid (2019), Leiden Short Film Experience (2019), and at the Hong-Gah Museum, Taiwan as part of 'Loss and Transience' (2021), an exhibition of moving image artworks and documentary films from India. It was also the recipient of the TFA Short Film Award 2019, the Second Prize for Best Documentary Short at the International Documentary and Short Film Festival, Kerala (2018), and is currently showing on MUBI.

He is interested in the alchemical power of cinema and its potential to address the central darkness at the heart of the human condition on Earth, all the while looking to illuminate the ancient kinship between the human and non-human.
