Cidney Hue is a writer-director with a focus on building inclusive futures through science fiction. She leads Audience Development and Outreach at the Science Communication Lab. Cidney's five-time award-winning short, OVUM, explores the convergence of reproductive rights and VR technology. Her previous award-winning short, ODESSA, follows an astronaut’s last night on Earth. Her webseries for Wired & Reddit, CYBORG NATION, profiles scientists at the forefront of prosthetics, robotics, and brain-computer interfaces. Cidney’s films have screened at over 65 festivals worldwide. She is currently in development on her debut feature, IRIS, based on the DUST distributed and Vimeo Staff Pick short, OVUM. The script is a winner of WeScreenPlay’s Diverse Voices and the Grand Prize Winner of Emerging Screenwriters’ Sci-Fi & Fantasy Screenplay Competition.
Cidney is a 2021 Future of Story Fellow, 2022 Cinereach x Justice Capsule Futurist Writer, and 2022 Minorities in Film’s Branded Lab Directing Fellow. She taught filmmaking and mentored students at her alma mater, NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Cidney founded PANO (formerly NYC Women Filmmakers) in 2015, where she leads its thousands strong community and nonprofit programming to support women, non-binary & GNC filmmakers across the US. Her lifelong goal is to visit space by 2050 so you should email her if you have an extra seat on your rocketship.
