The unrelenting ebb and flow of Earths great bodies of liquid water is an ancient, coastal shaping influence. A cycle where impermanence manifests itself vividly on a twice daily basis. Coastal management is, by its very nature, a process of prolonging that impermanence. One manifestation of this is through giant concrete geometries found in varying incarnations along the coastline. Seawalls, dolosse and seabees utilised to absorb and dissipate the energy of the sea, their ordered structures contrasting vividly with the organic forms of the beaches, cliff faces and water surfaces with which they co-exist.
