Filmed in the deep basement of an Indian Planetarium, this minimal video shows the demonstration of a Shive wave generator. Invented by physicist John Northrup Shive in 1959, this device is used to illustrate wave motion. It ultimately gives physical presence to forces otherwise invisible to the human eye. The title comes from the self composed epitaph of Johannes Kepler - all that remains of the famous German mathematician, astronomer, and astrologer. He died in 1630 and was buried in Regensburg, but during the Thirty Years War the cemetery was destroyed and his bones were scattered, never to be found again.
